MSGA’s Advocacy Fund is used to fund the association’s lobbying efforts during the bi-annual Montana Legislative Sessions. Each session, MSGA has a strong presence at the Capitol in Helena representing our members and the policies they set each year. MSGA is also very active in national policy discussions, occasionally traveling to Washington, D.C. to testify in front of Congress on behalf of Montana ranchers. We need your support to continue our daily efforts representing Montana’s ranching families. Please consider donating to our Advocacy Fund to keep up this important effort.

Just as the legislature is winding down, Lauren Chase interviewed Sen. Eric Moore at the capitol on April 11. When not on duty at the legislature, Moore runs a cow/calf feedlot and farm. He served on MSGA’s Board of Directors and says that the experience of lobbying, along with convention committees helps him during the legislature, since the process is quite similar.

On May 26, 2011, MSGA's executive vice president, Errol Rice, testified at the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance hearing regarding the U.S. - Korea Free Trade Agreement. Rice stated: "Ranchers must have access to the additional demand for beef from consumers that live outside the United States. Our ranch families’ livelihoods depend on exports which are our most dynamic andvibrant opportunities for long-term sustainability." Watch his full testimony in this video.
