She also provides accounting support for MSGA-REEF, MSGA Advocacy, Montana Public Lands Council, Montana State Grazing Districts, Montana Cattle Feeders and Montana Agricultural Political Action Committee. Her specific responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, all bank reconciliations, maintenance of the general ledger, and financial statement preparation. She also gathers all materials and documentation for the annual audit, and does payroll and administration of all employee benefits and services.
Susan graduated cum laude with a BS degree in Accounting from Phillips University in Enid, Okla. Prior to moving to Montana, she managed the accounting department for Triangle Insurance Companies, which included the insurance company, two insurance agencies, and their two customer support companies. Susan was responsible for oversight of statutory accounting for the insurance company and accrual based accounting for the other four companies.
Before coming to work for MSGA, Susan worked for Anderson & ZurMuehlen Accounting, Montana Livestock Ag Credit, and Rocky Mountain Development Council. She is proud to have spent a good portion of her professional career working with farmers and ranchers.
Susan and her husband, John, were raised on small farms in North Dakota. They have two sons. Leigh, his wife, Christi and two wonderful grandsons live in Kansas City, Missouri. Todd and his wife, Michelle, live in Boise, ID. Susan is an avid reader and enjoys camping. She lists serving as a literacy tutor as one of her most rewarding volunteer experiences.
